Well if you have listened to The Maddness Podcast you would know I have a sort of disdain for the iphone/3G.  I mean before I go into the tirade I have boiling inside me, let me first state a couple good things about it, the first being the iphone prompted innovation, which is something I love.  Apple coming out with the iphone with it popularity prompted other manufacturers to jump on the bandwagon and build something interesting.   The second thing the iphone brought the “smartphone” to the mass or better yet made it popular.

Now what really “Grinds my Gears” is the fact that companies, not so much people that buy the product, but the vendors that now produce applications for it.  Let me say first I am a Windows Mobile user I have a Sprint Mogul and like all phones it has it’s up and downs.  One of the reasons I love my phone is because it is a closed but “open” platform.  Microsoft had made it very easy to develop for Window Mobile almost anyone can do it if you just look at the forums on XDA DEVELOPERS you can see that that is indeed what people do.  Companies like Pandora (which I love btw) and QIK feel the necessity to drop EVERYTHING they are doing and make applications for the iphone.  While I scream and shout that Window Mobile has been out for years, has a larger base and on more phones then the iphone why not develop an application for it??? Why you say because they are SHEEP i say SHEEP!
